Six Dales Trail – public transport links

Eastern Dales Bus Service 820

Dales Bus Service 820 (The Eastern Dalesman) is a great bus service for walkers on the Six Dales Trail. It runs from Dewsbury via Otley, Pateley Bridge and Middleham to Leyburn and Richmond, with a connecting service to/from Upper Nidderdale. The service runs on Summer Sundays and Bank Holidays from May Day weekend through until mid-October. For further information see website for details.


From the bus station there are services to Leeds, Ilkley, Skipton, Bradford, Harrogate and Leeds-Bradford Airport.

Buses 967, 33 and 33A connect Otley with Menston Station for trains to Bradford and Leeds, which connects with the national rail mainline network.

The Nidderdale Rambler 821(Starts on the 7th of May) linking Otley to lots of walks in Nidderdale and giving access to The Six Dales Trail. See

Pateley Bridge

Bus 24 runs from Pateley Bridge to Harrogate all year round, and is operated by Harrogate and District – tel: 01423 566061 or email. See the website for route details.

Pateley Bridge is also served by Dales Bus which is operated throughout the year, but the schedules alternates between summer and winter timetables. See website for details.

Bus 159 runs from Ripon via Middleham to Leyburn and Richmond every two hours through the daytime on Mondays to Saturdays. From Ripon there are links to Harrogate, Leeds and York, whilst from Leyburn there are links to Northallerton and Hawes.
